Hydrogen Truck Pilot Programme Shows Promising Early Results

An international hydrogen truck pilot involving three OEMs and two logistics operators has published encouraging early results after six months of revenue service. Participating vehicles achieved uptime comparable to diesel equivalents on selected regional routes. Refuelling infrastructure remains the primary constraint, but corridor coverage has expanded with two new stations added in the past quarter. Operators noted that driver acceptance improved once training addressed refuelling procedures and range planning. Industry analysts caution that total cost of ownership still favours diesel on most lanes, but the pilot demonstrates that hydrogen can support specific use cases where charging infrastructure for battery-electric trucks is limited.
